Yes/No is a little too binary I did take my MCS back to the dealer for a couple of items but did I have to. Not right then. they were annoying but could easily have waited till a service but i choose to have the work done right away. i am a former 10 year miata driver - had one the 1st year - and agree that they are as close to problem free as any car i have ever known, or even know of. The MINI is definately not in that league. I don't want to debate why (built in the UK - problems with BMW/Rover etc etc) but i am convinced that the S is so much fun it is worth some minor aggrevation. my goal now is to get a miata in the garage to go along with the MCS and then my boyhood dream (i was born in Scotland) is complete A Lotus Elan and a MINI - which work aka KWKSLVR Member: Southern Ontario MINI Club BMW Club of Canada - Trillium Chapter

I have had the recalls done on the car, apart from that: Rattling Doors (fixed) Cracked Clear Rear Lense (fixed under warranty) Touch Wood, everything is ok now....apart from an occasional rattle in the dash...hmmmmm

Re: Yes/No is a little too binary mine too....MCS, miata, 2 motorcyles(VFR, '01 zx-6r)...but alas....i day i want to start a family..and having a miata and MCS just wouldn't make sense... '94 Miata....not stock...by any means '00 Honda VFR....ride to live...

These questions are numerous on MINI2 and I usually abstain but for the record my car has a number of 'problems' however they are not problems to me - I'm sure to others they would drive them mad - I voted no but then I don't have any warranty so perhaps I should stay out of the thread

well, now you've gone and skewed my poll... ![]() my point being and especially...since these are driver cars not econo-boxes...when i buy i car i want to stay away from the dealership as much as possible and drive. somebody said i like to drop by...shoot-the-hay while my car is being fixed not me...i don't have enought time nor patience..let alone the inconveience of having to leave the car and rent or bum a ride..especially from a new car... the poll is getting more reasonable only 50% have had problems.... but evan still that is a very high number.... '94 Miata....not stock...by any means '00 Honda VFR....ride to live...

Racer X - On bvalance I voted NO because had I wanted I could have continued to drive the car for the last year without visiting the dealership and had all the 'problems' fixed during a service interval etc. Had I had something major which meant I had to return to the delearship I think I would have voted yes - so your poll is safe

Gearbox cable became seperated from the transmission stranding me on the highway. (for those who do not know the stick shift would serperate from the tranny leaving you stuck in the gear that you were driving in) Plus I had a loose boot hatch the locking mechanism was replaced / adjusted. No worries or problem since, Charles BRG/W MCS

The usual, rattles and squeek's (not fixed), Software update to try and fix the "surging" (not fixed but much improved driveability), Passenger seat adjustment handles not working properly (not fixed), faulty lumbar support (fixed) and the handbrake assembly was replaced under warranty. Hatch rattle and multi latching catch (fixed) Cooper S Built 6/02, Delivered 8/02. No longer own the car. ![]() Hopefully '03 models will be improved on all front's. New MD at Oxford might help.

Yep - but nothing major. Took delivery on November 7, 2002 (1) First CD Changer installed didn't work and had to be replaced. (2) Faulty Run Flat sensor needed replacing and system recalibrating. (3) Has to go in next week for new Gear Shift Knob - the clear plastic cover is delaminating. Minor irritants, but I'm still enjoying the car and drive it every opportunity I get. Alan. BRG Cooper S.
