Remote Central Locking - Do I have it?

Hi Everyone

This may seem like an odd question but...

The reason I ask is that I got a 2001 Mini Cooper a few weeks ago and it came with 2 keys. One was just a solid MINI key (no buttons) and one with a mini logo button and a small button with a closed padlock on it below.

The remote central locking didn't work so i thought it was just the battery. I replaced the battery and tried the 2 re-program methods I found but still nothing.

When I lock the car with the key, all the doors lock and the indicators flash once but just cant get the remote to work

I think there are two possible reasons:

1 - The key is dead
2 - I dont have remote central locking and the key is a misnomer

Any way to check if i actually have it?

Many thanks

Pete
