low rev mettalic rattle from timing chain area

Hello all

picked up my S last weekend and loved every minute of driving her.
one slight problem. it has developed a slight metallic rattle under the bonnet when i put it in gear and rev gently to around 1500rpm the rattle appears for around 2 seconds then goes. sounds like its coming from the timing chain.
before anyone says it I have been to bmw and brought a new uprated timing chain tensioner and replaced that. loosing the will to live as i want to do stuff to my S but holding off untill i get the rattle sorted just incase its gunna be an expensive job.

all help would be appreciated.

If it only does it when you rev it in gear and not out of gear it might not be timing chain at all?
But the tensioner works off engine oil pressure so if your engine is old and oil pressure at low revs is not up to scratch I guess it affects the working of the tensioner too??
Also if the engine is old and say the chain has already been allowed to stretch then fitting a new tensioner wont give the perfect result?

Cheers for the reply I've just been out and tested it it's more noticeable when in gear (louder) but also does it very quietly when in neutral so not under load. So we thinking it's gunna be a chain swap needed?
