Front end shake

Hi

I have a 51 plate Mini Cooper. The problem I am having is when the car gets up to 50 mph it's shakes. The front end of the car shakes along with the gear knob. Once I lift off the accelerator the shaking stops. I have read a few threads saying that the engine mount is a common problem, how do tell which engine mount it is if it is an engine mount?

I will post some pics of the car once the weather changes.

R50 cooper with Union Jack roof.

Regards
Chris

Hi ya

I take it you have check the normal things first
1) tire pressures
2) front and rear tire for distortion ( jack it up spin the wheel check for tread delimitation )
3) buckled wheel
4) wheel weights missing
5) wheels bolts are tight
6) abnormal tire wear

Is your car lowered or standard ?

The later minis had a hyd engine mount I think your one may be rubber but with out seeing it it's hard to say. But you can check the rubber bushes and support for signs of damage.

Also get your lower wish bone rubbers checked if one has failed this may be the problem.

If you are un shore about the tires and balance etc, you can swap the wheels form front to back see if the problem moves to the rear.

Hope this helps
