DIY Squeaky serpentine belt - Ease of repair?

My serpentine belt is now squeaking like a squashed mouse - I've been quoted around 40 for a replacement, but they have said they may need to replace the tensioner at around 140 all in also - Does this sound reasonable?

(Apologies on the UK pricing)

I'd like to think I could do it by myself, but I'm a little apprehensive when I've seen the how-tos - Is it hard?

Hi ya

What year and model is your car ?
Depending on what it is depends on special tool for the tensioner.
It is a easy job to do and the parts are easy to get hold of bmw or your local car parts place will have them, there are a few how to guides floating around :-). And to be honest if you are going to do a lot your self buy your self a Bentleys manual but get the one with trouble shooting and diag section, and a cheep code reader it will save you a fortune.

My advice pop off the belt that what you will see what the tensioner is like then go from there if the tensioner is ok just replace the belt.
