Where is the front ABS fitted

Daft question I know, but bear with me.

My 2002 Mini One has a clacking when reversing and turning (noticeable when I get home and have to turn round to park the car). Also ABS and tyre pressure light is on when it feels like it - usually from set off but sometimes lights go out altogether irrespective of tyre pressure reset procedure.

I'm pretty certain it's the O/S (driver's side (RHD)) cv joint on it's way out. Checked under car and CV gaiter appears to be OK.

I can get a new CV joint easily enough and the driveshaft is pretty much the same as my son's Rover Mini driveshaft where the joint is secured with a circlip and a good whack will remove the cv joint (according to a free workshop manual source).

My question is - where is the abs reluctor ring fitted? Is it on the driveshaft, cv joint, brake disc or wheel bearing?

Tried looking at this site but couldn't find a definitive answer.

If it's on the cv joint, I'll have to get a new reluctor ring as well.

I know ABS/Tyre pressure lights may be something else altogether, but I had a smart car with a cracked reluctor ring the driveshaft but didn't throw a abs light - just pulsing brake pedal when braking hard

Thanks for the reply.
So, changing the CV Joint would be relatively straight forward?

Hi ya

It's pretty straight forward as long as the bottom ball joint and track rod end come off ok, just be carefully with the wiring when you are moving the Hub assy about not to damage any of the wiring. there very fragile best thing is to disconnect them just behind the wheel arch liner if possible.
use a new hub nut :-). You will be fine

Hope this help

Ps hub nut is torqued to 134 ftlbs and locked

Thanks for the info.
New CV joint comes with a gaiter, clips, grease sachet, circlip and new hub nut.
