Mini Cooper s won't start

Hi have an intermittent start issue , insert key and turn ignition on all lights and dash come on fine but when you turn key to start you get nothing , the strange thing seems to be if I wiggle the key then try it again it then starts, any ideas ?

Have tried spare key get the exact same wouldn't have thought its the starter either as there are no clicks just acts like the battery is dead or a bad connection with the key sum how

Thanks

The ignition switch has an EPROM and induction coil inside, this checks the key and communicates with the EMS and works off a rolling code to unlock the immobiliser. If no matching code can be found, it wont send a signal to the starter motor. If all other options have been checked (starter motor terminals etc) then its likely a fault with the ignition switch.
