Question A problem with my Cooper in the cold

I don't know if any one has had this problem, I didn't find any posts on the subject.

When I start my Cooper and the engine is cold, the engine seems to suffer a loss in power. When I accelerate it seems like my cars struggling to move. Its like the breaks are rappidly comming on and off. I don't think its the brakes or the ABS 'cos I don't feel the brake pedal pulsing.

It reminds me of when I had a manual choke on my escort and I didn't adjust it properly. Do modern cars have chokes?

The symptoms are simmilar to a problem my dad had with his Golf. The problem there was caused by the ?Lander Probe?

I haven't called the Dealership cos I bought my Cooper from Park Lane (London) but I am living in Germany and my lingo is not so good.

Any advise. Thx

There was some ECU reprogramming done to some cars, but try the faults & fixes forum for more suggestions...

throttle casing

I had a very similar problem....took it to the garage and they have replaced the throttle casing (or housing???) whatever that is. Have had no problems since.

Interesting, been having exactly the same problem, a real hesitancy in acceleration for first half a mileor so in hte cold. A trip to dealership is required I think

I have suffered with a similar problem in the past. The car has just returned from the dealer where they have installed the latest MINI software updates one of which was for the specific cold start problem. I'd get the car booked in at your dealer and tell them that you've heard of a software fix or a MAP fix to be mega technical!

Regards
Christopher
