knocking from front after gear and coolant change?

I jacked up the car (r52 JCW) level to change the gear oil (bought from BMW dealer) and then drained and refilled as much of the coolant as I could (couldn't find the drain plug for the block) Went for a spin - all good. Then picked up missus from station and when we got home (ie slowed down for speed bumps) I could hear a knocking from what seemed like the front of the car, when slowing and dipping the clutch/braking. It seems to go away under acceleration.

What could it be - would it be related to have all four wheels off the ground - ie suspension issue? Engine mounts? (although they should not have been affected by the lifting) More scary gearbox issues?

All feedback greatly appreciated!

Anything to do with where you positioned the jack when jacking the car up? Have you bent something?

I hope not - I jacked with the supplied jack in the jack points then used axle stands on the chassis rails at the front then the jack and a two ton jack on the jacking points at the back.

Doh! Went to check the suspension and discovered Only three wheelnuts and only one tight! The PO hadn't tightened them up and jacking up and down a couple of times has loosened them further. Phew, could have been nasty.....
