Reassemble glove box lock

Hi
my wife has a mini cooper S cabrio.
in a fit of DIY I have just finished replacing the resistor for the two stage fan system. whilst doing so i foolishly thought i'd fix the glovebox latch too (the lock just fell out of the assembly.
I removed the glovebox and split the casing open to reveal the latch system. It's in bits (which I guess is why it fell out ...). But it does not seem broken.
the bits I have are

1. the metal casing
2. the cylinder
3. the plastic cylinder cap
4. a wee rectangular dongle with a knob that appears as though it might fit into the slidey notch in item 3.
5. the grab catch (which appears to be very badly designed). i'd guess it hooks facing up and onto the bar at the top of item 1.
6. a metal arched thingummy that might be a sprung clip.

I'm not an engineer but still spend time designing complex micro-circuitry for control systems. I really ought to be able to work out how these items go back together, but for the life of me I can't.

help?

thanks
Justin
