Mini one r50 coolant boiling

Hi....

Have a mini one 2001 plate. sometimes when I turn the engine off after a run the coolant is boiling. Fan doesn't engage.

Other times the fan does work and no boiling.

Has anyone had this problem and give me an idea of what's happening before I take it to a garage?

Thanks

If the fan works intermittently then you could have a faulty fan resister switch?

And if the fan doesn't come on...would that cause the coolant to boil?

Thanks

Yes. If the fan doesn't come on then it won't cool the engine and the car will overheat. You will need to investigate why the car is overheating. The cooling system may need flushed out / radiator replaced or thermostat replaced.

Ok thanks....I was thinking head gasket but there's no symptoms at all apart from coolant boiling.

Minds at ease....for now!
