My wife has an old but low mileage (45K) 2002 auto cooper. Since the day I bought it for her (to learn to drive and pass her test) the auto box has really 'banged' into Drive.
The day I bought it I took it to a main dealer to request they fixed this and they changed the gearbox oil which did help somewhat. It has since got worse and the dealers said it was 'normal-ish'. However, it is so bad now that when she reverses out of our drive and then goes to D it stalls!
We want to keep the car for another year or so because it is fine in all other aspects. I'm about to request they just swap the box unless anyone here can advise otherwise? The same main dealer has serviced the car for the last 5 years so I'm reluctant to ask them again for help!
