Question faulty gas valve problems -- undetected?

It came up in another thread (http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=26730) that a couple of us have had problems with defective gas valves that went undetected because they didn't show up on the computer. It took three trips to the dealer for mine to be resolved (the dealer was terrible all the way around on this one ). We were wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. Thanks!

as i said in the previous thread, i had a crack gas valve that also took 3 trips to the dealer in 3 weeks to finally have it fixed. the "service engine soon" warning light came on all three times. at first, they think it's a problem with the OB computer, so they reprogramed it. but the SES light came back on after 30 miles. i did a search on MINI2, found that someone else had the same problem with the SES light, and it was a faulty valve. when i took the car in to the dealer, i asked them specifically to check out the valve. problem's fixed, and it's been running great now.

wouldn't have this problem fixed so soon if it wasn't for fellow MINI2'ers.
