Unhappy Hand brake cover

My Hand Brake cover is Torn !.

When cleaning the interior today , I was shocked to find that the ' Gaitor ' covering the base of the hand brake is 'RIPPED 'underneath.

I can see a lovely ' BRASS ' coloured threaded shaft that would seem to be the connection from the handbrake to the cable.

It has torn the 'LEATHER ' ? cover.

Anyone else had this happen ?.

Yet another trip back to the dealer tomorrow ! .

Go get a real leather aftermarket boot; much better looking than stock.

Have a look in here:

And please let me know if MINI (your dealer) has come up with a solution for this, as it seems to me that changing the cover alone (and not doing something about the screw (shaft)) will just result in the new cover being ripped again.
OBEHAVE suggested a rubber cap put on the screw but I kind of expect BMW to recognize the problem and works out "product enhancement" on this issue.

Mine was replaced for free last week. They didn't cover the screw though so I expect for the problem to reoccur within 6 months.

I had mine replaced about a month ago. Same prob, the bolt from the handbrake adjustment mechanism tore a hole.
I mentioned to the guy at the dealer that it may be a good idea to put a plastic/rubber cap on the end of the thread to prevent it happening again.
Guess what! never listened ,so its gonna happen again.
But if they`re gonna keep replacing it for free, I`m not worrying.
Just getting sick of making repeat trips to the dealer with another fault.

mine is also torn. Having not inspected it closely I had assumed it was me that ripped it. I'll be having a word with the dealer about getting it replaced for free.

Indi Blue Cooper + all the white bits + stripes. Chilli Pack, Auto air con. LOVE IT!
