Ok well it worked for a day but now the same problem. (light comes on inside, and window retracts a bit.)

Also now it seems that the passenger window just stays down a bit and doesn't even pop-up under the seal when you close it!

grrrr

taking it in again today or tomorrow for them to replace the BC1 unit thingymajig.

I'm currently having the same problem on a completely different car, so maybe I can come at this from a different angle. My interior light began flashing on and off and the door ajar light would respond likewise. It took me all of five minutes to figure out that the problem was likely the door sensor switch. It's just a momentary-type push button switch mounted in the door jam. As it turns out, the plastic housing for the switch had cracked and it was allowing the switch to flex some, making it appear the door was open when going over bumps. It wasn't some demon or modern technology or malfuncitoning of a some digital wizzbang computer module. It was a simple 3 dollar switch that was replaced in a matter of minutes. I'm just wondering how many of the problems people are having with their MINIs are the result of these simple fix type of problems. For one reason or another it seems that the owners, and worse yet, the dealers/technicians keep assuming the worst and start ripping out computer modules and BC1's and the like. Maybe we American's go at things a bit differently. Maybe the approach the dealer took was based on previous failures of BC1 modules... but I just can't help but think that the solution could be so much simpler.

Cheers,

My fault fixed itself by the time i took it in for a service. Asked the dealer to look at it and they said there was an eletrical fault and it has been fixed and not reappeared since.

Fingers crossed it has gone.

Cheers,

Lee

Angry Yet another sick Mini!

All this sounds terribly familiar. My car started doing the same last night and to make it worse as soon as I locked it the (VERY LOUD) alarm would go off. In the end I called Emergency Assist and they dispatched someone to look at it but the person that turned up wasnt a mechanic. He had just come to tow the car away. I wasnt happy to see the car go and be left overnight unlocked so I rejected the offer of a tow and instead took it home and checked it every hour through the night.

I dropped it off at the dealer this morning and mentioned I thought its problem was a leaky BC1. The reaction was one of indifference. No loan car was offered (I suspected as much) even though I had only bought the car three weeks previously and they hadnt fixed the knocking steering column and very badly squeeking boot and faulty catch before I picked it up.

I am seriously considering selling the car after only a few weeks ownership and it will be going if they do not resolve these problems. Simply not the kind of faults you expect on a car worth over £17K. I previously had an Alfa Romeo and it was built like a tank compared to the Mini.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how to get the best from my dealer? Some level of interest would be good!
