Oxygen Sensor went South, anyone else?

The check engine light came on steady and a mechanic friend read code 2096(I'm pretty sure) on the OBDII. It said it was an undocumented code though.

Took it to the dealer and they said it was the o2 sensor. They had to order one and it's been a few weeks when they finally called Friday and said it came in.

Just curious how common a problem it might be.

Cheers

I don't know how common this problem is, but sensors can go bad. Anyone else?

Were you able to drive the car with the bad sensor those two weeks? Did the check engine light remain lit?

Yes & Yes. There might be a slight reduction in fuel economy, but other than that it shouldn't cause any other problems.

Thanks for the reply.
