I am experiencing a problem with the roof of my mini. There is a dent above and between the driver and passenger on the exterior of the car about 6" in diameter.
Nothing has caused it.It seems as though its just the roof sinking after a while of usage. (9 months)
Has anybody experienced this also or know of someone who has. A possable cure is greatly needed. It stands out more on black paintwork (non-metallic) so i'd check your own for the problem.
Do a search in faults and fixes. This is a known problem and cars are being repaired free of charge. Apparently the sound insulation that is glued to the underside of the roof does not expand and contract at the same rate as the metal and is causing this problem.

Seen threads on this known problem somewhere, do a search. Warranty repair, as its caused by the heat of the sun - hard to prove here in the UK. Effects black roof cars without sunroofs mainly I beleive, as they absorb more heat I think...
Is your roof black? Is your car an older build? You don't have a sunroof, right?
If you answer yes to all of the above, you have a problem with your roof insulation that causes a nasty dent to appear in the forward section of the roof when the car is parked under direct sunlight for a long period of time.
This is indeed a warranty item.
'02 MINI Cooper CVT
On Order: 2004 MCS (Est production date: 9/5/03)
This is exactly what has happened to my Sep 2002 MCS. I will give the dealer a call who assumed it was a vandal or accidental damage when I queried it. As I've mentioned in another thread I found it hard to believe that I was a constant victim of footballs and falling fruit. I live in West London for crying out loud. I've been obssessively checking rooflines too, especially black MINIs, and guess what? They've got little dents here and there. But they appear permanent rather than temporary as posted in a 'Dented Roof' thread.
