Question Dashboard Trickery.....

Thought I would try out an old trick for the 3-series BMW (E36) on my mini...

Hold down the Trip Reset button, and move the key to position 1.

This brings up the Test menu system - push the trip-reset to move to the next available test. (Test 2 is a good one!!)

To unlock the other tests, select test 19, wait for L_off to appear, and hit the trip-reset. Trip 0 will now appear.

Haven't got a clue what most of the info is for, but it looks like there's the build-date of the vehicle, the current date/time etc etc.

If anyone has any more info on this, please share !

Test 2 checked that all the lights, gages etc worked on the dash. I suppose it was pretty cool seeing the tach go all the way to the top.

Here it is, I found it in a search.

something to do with the fuel level as
far as I can tell.

6.0 142113 Both the third and sixth digits varied
at a stand still so I think there are two
separate readings packed in here.

6.1 _ _ _ 260 Again, varies with fuel level.
26 L total?
