Coolant level right on min level

Checked my May 03 Mini One coolant level and saw it was right on the min level. Is this normal? I remember checking it a few weeks ago and recall it was higher than this - but is this an expansion tank and does the level change?

Temp guage does not move from normal.

When the engine on mine is cold the level is half way and when it is hot it reads just under the max mark which i think is about right.

My car was the same when new. Seemed to 'loose' a bit of fluid over the first few months. The level does change depending on temp. I just topped my header tank up to between min and max and it has been OK since. Just use clean tap water.
