United-Kingdom Window motor failure

Anybody else experienced this? The electric motor on the driver side simply stopped working..........with the window up fortunately. After a couple of days and with an appointment booked to have it looked at, it started working again ( for a few days ) then packed up again. My local BMW Mini garage have ordered a replecement motor ( still under warranty ) but interestingly, commented that they have "......had a couple of these ( motor failures ) in the past weeks....."

I just had a window motor (and regulator) replaced at the dealer today. Mine was under warranty as well. I wonder what it would've cost me otherwise.

Have you already tried resetting it by holding the window toggle up for 10-15 secs?

Is this some type of reset that is well known? ... Will try it tomorrow before calling the dealer.

Interesting problem. Sounds like my passenger window. Didn't work one night. Now it does again. Sounds like it is getting ready to go. 3 year warrenty is up in 16 days.

Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman.

I've just had my driver's side window motor and regulator replaced for the second time. They seem to last me approximately 18 months. My MINI is my daily driver and I use the windows everyday. Anyone with a 2002 model that uses their windows everyday and hasn't had a window problem? My car is still under warranty, but it would've cost me $300. How much would it cost me to have an old-fashioned (manual) window crank retro-fitted?

Both Sides!

I've been dealing with the "window stops working problem" ever since about 6 months after taking delivery. While the car was under warranty, I had the problem fixed once. Now, both windows are not rolling down.
I don't think simply replacing the motor fixes the problem.
I will keep you updated on my progress.

My off-side (driver's) window has just packed in too...... I get this clicking sound in the door, but no movement of the glassy stuff that should accompany it. Looks like another trip to BMW. Luckily, i've just noticed my brake fluid needs changing too, as it's reading
- (minus) 264 days on the service indicator thingy. No wonder i'm getting brake fade after a few miles of pedal stamping. Doh!

I have had the passenger side (right side, LHD car) window lifter motor fail. Unfortunately the car only started getting problems after the warranty expired. I dont remember what it cost to replace, but it wasnt funny. I remember the aircon failing a few weeks later (thank god the window lifter was working then) ) a little hose had to be replaced, which cost us EUR 500...

Easy fix that worked for me:

The window was stuck closed, and in trying to open it, I could hear a click in the door. Hit the door just above the speaker - works again.
