Question Power steering...

This has maybe been covered before, but I couldn't fnid an answer anywhere.

My power steering is noisy, as is the case on all MINIs as far as I can gather! But at night when cornering, the lights dim as I turn round corners etc as if there isn't enough power to run the power steering and lights at the same time!!

I don't mean that the lights go out by any means but there is a noticeable dimming effect... anyone any ideas??

Thanks.

Well, the power steering pump is electric, and it takes a bit of
juice to turn the wheels at rest, less so at speed. Mine does
this too and I'm not worried.

Every MINI does this. Don't worry about it. More noticeable at low speed or cornering hard. The more force it atkes to turn the wheels the more noticable the effect.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Plug a high-amp vacuum cleaner into the same outlet in your house as a lamp. Turn the lamp on. Then turn the vacuum on. Notice how the lamp dims momentarily.

Same concept.

So, is this a warranty issue? Should I contact my builder?
