Exclamation Gear linkage recall

I've just dropped my car off at my dealers to have the steering column changed and interestingly on the job sheet it's automatically come up with "gear linkage recall"

My car had this changed last week so it looks as if MINI have recognised this as a major problem

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

I thought this gear linkage problem was old?

The same problem with it coming apart, yes???

Mine was sorted ages ago with a clip. Are you saying there's some sort of problem with this fix

It was acceptable in the 80's

Hands up who thinks zooooom is gonna suffer a major failure on his car, in the next week, after that post?

Sorry I should've been more specific....
It's for the MCS and it relates to the linkage at the gearstick end which vibrates at about 4000rpm. I'm not sure how many car's it effect, but I know several 53 owners who have this problem
My last MCS didn't have this problem

My gearbox is fine. It was bit clunky at first with certain gear changes but has got better and better with miles. They ain't touching my gearbox.

My S had the vibrating linkage problem that Martin described. Replaced the linkage... no change. Replaced/adjusted the cables... problem solved.. except I did notice a VERY slight hint of a noise a few days later, but nothing since.

Wonder if I might be making another visit soon?

You got yours sorted OK then Neil?

I hope so. It finally went in on Tuesday. The vibration has completely gone and if any thing the gearchange feels better than before
