Red face I've made another blunder!

I noticed that the blanking cap (is that the right word?) at the front of the dashboard was rattling. It's the plastic cap where the climate sensor goes, if you have climate control. Anyway, I thought I'd remove the cap to see if it was the source of the rattle, only it unclipped much easier than I thought and fell down the front air vents! I thought 'no problem I'll take the topper pad off (dash cover), but soon realised the topper pad doesn't cover these vents. So the cap is knocking around somewhere inside the car!

What can I do! Will it damage the car?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This pic should help. Ignore the red area - I found this pic in another thread. You can just see the plastic cap at the front of the dash, and a row of small rectangle vents in front.

tell your dealer you just heard a new noise and noticed that blanking plate is missing ... they should sort it for you, I hope

I'm betting on KenL to be the first to reply and give me some well deserved stick!

Now that's a good idea. It's difficult to think rationally when you panic. That sudden sense of dread when your heart sinks and you realise what a balls up you've made!

HA HA. I got the little bugger out. Amazing what a knitting needle with a blob of blu-tac on the end can do.

Stellablade - an expert at buggering things up but still coming good in the end

Oi, leave that poor MINI alone

Glad you got the missing bit back but I'm surprised you've not posted another thread asking how to remove a bit of blu-tak and a knitting needle from under the dash topper

Perhaps I should start a poll entitled "What will Stellablade break next"

A hammer and chisel would've done the trick
