Brake Warning Light I just had AP Racing's Big Brake kit installed on the front of my Cooper S. The new brake pads that came with the kit did not have a slot for the OEM brake pad wear sensor, so my local independent mechanic just unplugged the sensor and left it off the car. This triggered the brake pad wear warning ligh and it stayed on all the timet. It annoyed me so this afternoon I plugged the sensor back on the car near the left front brake, and just strapped the sensor to the brake hose. I thought this will turn off the warning light.
Nope, it stayed on and I can't figure out logically why this is so. The only explanation I can dream up is that once the brake warning light is triggered, the ECU will keep the warning light on until reset by dealer. Does anybody know if this is the case?
Hope someone can help me out with info on how to reset the warning light. Car is only 3 months old so I don't really want to show up at the dealer with modified front brakes. |
