Coolant overflow tank empty...?

My coolant overflow tank is totally empty... Is this normal in cold weather or is something wrong? I have a MC CVT.

your radiator is low then. Fill your overflow to the cold mark. Check it again a couple days of driving latter. If its empty again, you probly have a leak.

I just checked my wife's Cooper CVT coolant overflow tank and it is full (Hot mark) and the coolant is still blue. car has 19,200 miles.

Have the dealer fill the tank and also make them check for leaks in the coolant system.

coolant overflow tank

I had the same problem with my 02 S. mine leaked from the seam around the tank .If yours is the same problem there should be a dried up coolant mess on top of the heatshield the dealer said he had seen this before and replaced the tank under warranty.

Mine was empty twice within a year. The dealer said it is normal. Not sure that it is like what they said

Initially mine was overflowing. A few months back found it almost empty. Had it re-filled, no leaks found. So far, so good. I have a Sept 02 MC CVT.

I highly doubt that's normal.
I had the bad tank and lost some but didn't lose a whole tank of fluid. Haven't lost any since getting the new tank 6-7 months ago.

Mine was empty when I got home from the dealer after they'd replaced the radiator. I filled it up again and it has not gone down since. It was due to an airlock within the cooling system.

The MINI's cooling system seems to get airlocks easily. I had some when new which went away after months and many top ups. Then when the tranny was replaced they had to drain the coolant for some reason and it was burping for another few months. Now fine again...
