window washer water reservoir empty

In fact I was really shocked to find out that there is no warning (or whatsoever) on a empty water reservoir.

(or did I miss something ?)

very "Works".

the standard warning i notice you tend to get is a very dirty windscreen and lots of wiper smears. for me that indicates that the reservoir is "NOW" empty. i agree it would be nice to know in advance.

Do you get fined for that in Holland? A £60 fine here!

I noticed that if I carefully top up the washer reservoir to the brim, then after driving the car, the level always went down quite a way without using any washers. It wasn't leaking out the bottom anywhere overnight if just left alone, only when you drive the car did the water disappear. If you carefully look inside the interior of the wing panel, you will see that the washer bottle is a very peculiar shape, the top of which extends some way into the panel space and level with the neck. This means that the top level of the neck is not higher than the rest of the top level of the bottle (as it is in most cars) so as soon as you go down a hill, water just spills out the next past the blue cap and the level goes down.

I'm currently carrying around a couple of 1.5L bottles of water for when the washer reservoir runs out.

For no washer fluid-or for a dirty windscreen?
The cops around here would have a field-day enforcing either.

£60 never heard of it... fine for no water or dirty screen. either way u could say i was on the way to the garage to fill up happened mid journey. or what happens when your washers freeze like mine did on the m3 today, couldnt see through the smears...

oddly enough is it my imagination or does the MINI front screen attract much more crap than other cars...
