Question Loud noise when pulling away??

My mini has just been into the garage for three days trying to fix a list of faults with it. One of the faults is a droning noise from the engine when you pull away, or if the engine is at low revs. It only appears for a second or so and then dissapers. I drove another car at the dealership to compare and this car did not do it. Mini have told me this noise is on all Minis and it is not a fault. Does anyone elses car make this noise??

Despite some other problems, mine doesn't do that.

I think you may need to find another dealership Tim. They're spinning you a line here, and they're really taking the p*ss with your 5 month wait for a seat!

Was it the dealer or MINI UK who said the noise is normal. Surely if you can demonstrate to the dealer that your car makes the noise and others don't then you can get your dealer to back your claim that the noise in not the normal 11mph check noise. If the dealer is saying it is normal then the obiously are shirking their responsibility and you need to seek another dealers advice. Once you get your/a dealers backing of the noise they can contact MINI Technical to try and resolve it if they can't diagnose it themselves.

Crashandburn you mention about a 5 month wait for a seat, well I have waited for over 2 months and I know people who have been waiting a lot longer too. They seem to be sorting out supply problems at long last but it really has been a joke and with partnumber changes not every dealer is aware of this could well be the cause of lenghty delays. It shouldn't happen but it does. Hopefully I will stop creaking next Tuesday when my new drivers seat it fitted

Unhappy Noisey Mini!

The techinical dude from Mini uk came down and testdrove my car. It was him that said that the noise was standard on all Minis. When he was at my dealer there was not another Mini one for him to drive to compare. It was when I was booking it in that I drove a hire car with the service man. I have today spoken to Mini uk and they are going to send another man out to have a look at my car and see if they can fix it once and for all. I will keep yoy posted!!!

ELISEBOY is the noise form your back seat a sort of knocking sound when you go over rough ground. That was of the faults with my car and they have just managed to fix it now. Apparantley it is something to do with the seat frame and how it is attached to the car.

mine does the same, the noise you get from the mini engine is what the motoring press people call "boomy" !
probably caused by resonance in the exhaust system and isn't a fault (but annoying none the less!)
