Yes. Mine does it too. Noticed it about 2 days after I took delivery. I'm sure there are tons of posts about it here on Mini2 if you do a search.

Funny thing however..........I never bothered to look into it. Don't know why, but I've always accepted it as something the car just does. It is somewhat annoying, and I should probably try to get it corrected.

It's definetly a heat thing. Very strange.

Is it a loud like, knocking sound that comes from under the car after driving? If so, its because the car is still new and it's something to do with the exhaust. Mine did it for a while, and i just passed the 4500 mile mark and it doesnt seem to knock really loud anymore.

Hope this helps ya,
-scott

My MCS JCW always makes quite a lot of noise while cooling down. I don't know what the standard MCS looks like underneath, but around my exhaust system are a whole load of pressed alloy heat shields- far more than I have seen under any other car I have owned. I have simply assumed that, based on the size of them, these heat shields move considerably when cooling down. Any movement in these big metal sheets is bound to make quite a noise.

I would be surprised if it is any problem at all. Maybe just give the dealer a call to put your mind at rest?

BTW mine is 14 months old with 8.5k miles on it..... however, it ahs only had the JCW on for 8 months.
