Unhappy Roof Dents

In the glorious sunshine today, I have polished and pampered my Red/Black Cooper which I have had for 5 months and 2800 miles now, but to my horror, in the roof panel there are several dents. The car does not have a sunroof fitted to it and there are approximately 6 dents in a line on the osf area, 2 on the osr area and 3 on the mid nearside area !!. They appear to be non impact damage as the paint is unmarked. They actually look more like stress/stretch marks in the roof or marks from manufacture

They have only become noticeable in the sunshine of the past few days and as I have had the car for 5 months I doubt MINI will believe that they have been there since day one and say that I should have noticed them sooner

Has anyone else had a similar problem.

My car is going in for new Hydraulic Tappets on Tuesday to cure the early morning start up rattle I hope, plus a second attempt at fixing the water leak from the top of the tailgate and a 4th go at curing the rattle from the nsf of the interior so I will be asking the service department to comment and advise on it then but I doubt I will get anything more than "it could have happened anywhere in the last 5 months"

What frustrates me more is that now I know they are there, my eyes are immediately drawn to them and they are so unsightly

Oh well....grumble over.....if anyone has any thoughts or ideas on how I can approach this I would be most appreciative or do you reckon I am going to have to live with them ??

I can suggest a solution in two words: Roof decal. Of course if you don't apply it correctly, it will have bubbles that will really bother you!

Thanks for the replies folks !.

Mr Bill .....hmm...don't think a roof decal is the way to go as Red/Black is one classy combination in my opinion and one you don't see a great deal of. But hey..nice idea !!.

Mini Maniac, I have used dent removal services in the past but these are so slight they will be difficult to remove due to one big problem !!....they are in the roof panel, so that involves removing the headlining for a start and also it is not the most forgiving of panels as they lever to remove dents and the panel is fragile. I will see what the dealer says tomorrow

Thanks again for your thoughts and ideas though !!

I dont know if anyone has noticed but the roof panel is very flexible if you prod it anyway, not very strong in comparison to other cars. Maybe this has contributed in some way to your dents mysteriously appearing???

Blue is the colour.

Dented roof

I had the same problem once on a Clio 172. There were little dents in a perfect line going along the roof. The body shop said that they were stress dents which were caused by the roof flexing.

If she's not smoking she broken!
