Unlocking problem???

Just wondering if this is normal or not, but when I unlock the door once with the key and I try to use the toggle switch to open the passenger side door, it doesn't work unless I press down to lock and then up to unlock again. It's nothing major I guess because I can just press the key twice to open both sides, but it's a brand new car and I'm just curious if it is a problem.
If it is a problem, could it be from someone manually locking the door when leaving???

Oh interesting... Honestly I never tried... I either just unlock it once for meself or if I have a passenger i press the key twice... never had to unlock just once and then get in and use the toggle switch to unlock again.

I recently noticed the same thing. Its kind of annoying. I don't know if its a fault or designed that way.

Thats not much help but at least you know its not just you!

Wait... I just tried that and it works for me... I have a 2003 and I can just unlock the drivers side... get in then use the toggle switch and unlock the rest of the car.

Yes I did notice the same problem. It annoyed me when I need to unlock the door for the passenger but the toggle switch didn't work.

It is a shame that BMW would allow this kind of problem to happen, especially on a component as simple as the doorlock.

I have a late 9/03 built MCS and when I unlock the door either with the remote control or with the key, both of the doors unlock. If you read the manual there is a programme which some of the cars have it as a default (or by your will at the dealer) and you must press twice to unclock both of the doors because with 1 press only the driver's door openning.
Have a look or ask your dealer

Yep, I'm sure this is programmable, like the comfort opening or the follow me home headlights.

Have a chat with your dealer fellow!

Lee.

I have an '02 MCS and can unlock the drivers door with the remote and then use the toggle to unlock the passenger side straigth away. No problem.

I am reasonably certain that this is a dealer programable function.

Yes, I have the same problem. Sept built 04. So if I unlock just the driver's door when entering the car, to unlock the passenger with the toggle, I have to lock and unlock everything to get the passenger unlocked.

I am taking my car into the dealer next week. Anyone have any luck getting this fixed?

Anyone know if this action of having to lock before the toggle will unlock the passanger is considered "normal"?
