JCW Badge Discolouration

The JCW engine badge on my MCS JCW has become badly discoloured. I phoned JCW to explain the problem along with an email with a picture attached.

I have pasted their reply below along with an attachment containing a picture of the badge:

Thank you for e mail
I have spoken to Mike Cooper we are aware of the problem which we are looking into it is where it rubs on the sound proofing.

I've heard of it before from some of the other owners. If I were you, I'd ask for a refund

Dont worry, heres the fix (thanx to Ratty). Use white spirit or another alcohol cleaner to remove the balck mark. (should come off fairly easily) then get some talcum powder or french chalk and brush it onto the foam of your intake (liberally). Blow of the excess and hey presto, it wont mark it any more! Ratty did this for me 'tother week and its worked a treat. Good luck!

Its not corroded Max so shush , its just where the foam rubs. Doesnt have to be a works to do it. Stop 'poking the fire' And it doesnt leave a permanent mark...

You paid £1000 for a 200bhp conversion and 2,800 for a badge and now its corroded

I should ask for a £2,800 refund and ditch the engine badge

Steady up there Tiger, let's keep this one on track

Max is on track. It's always the same track, but it's a track nevertheless.

Thanks for the tip, HObzy!

Thanks for the tip HObzy.

Oh and Max, denial is a very negative emotion. Cleans your soul and share your regressed admiration for the JCW kit with us. You'll feel much better for it!!

What was that about not stoking the fire?

There's more to life (and driving) than HP sauce, Max. Anyway, I wouldn't weep even if your car drove as smoothly to the redline as mine (which I'm sure it won't). I love my car and I'm happy I got exactly what I got.

Fanning the flames.......

Sorry Max. I'd rather spend the extra and know that my money has gone towards years of R&D to supply top quality upgraded parts easily capable of handling the increase. Rather then ringing the neck out of the standard parts and removing the piece of mind of the manufacturers warranty.

I may add that 215bhp is a little optimistic for such basic mods.

All the best

My JCW badge was doing the same thing. I used a non abrasive carnuba wax after cleaning and it has been fine since. The Talc powder with wax would probably be better yet.
