Burning Rubber Smell/ Cooper S

I just picked up my new Cooper S and am noticing a the smell of burning rubber every time I get out of the car after a long drive. I am going pretty fast, but nothing out of the ordinary. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks,

Teal

And it can also be your exhast system breaking in. All of my new cars have had a sulfur burning smell for the first couple hundred miles after I have cut the engine.

Try and take it a bit easier until it is broken in. Don't spinn the tires so much. If you keep up this rate the tires won't last thru the breakin period.

Regaurding the burning smell, my 04 cooper has done 17,000 miles and now after long journeys is starting to give off a burning rubber/plastic/electrical smell cant be nothing too bad as the smell has been there for about 2months already so if anything bad was to happen it would of happened by now, but it would be nice to know what the smell maybee, any help would be gratefull

Check your alloys when you stop - if one is very hot compared to the others then you might have a calliper siezed.

Why not get the dealer to check it?

If you warn them in advance you might tbe able to take it in "hot" and get it looked at pronto.

After autocrossing, it's always a good idea to check under the car for trapped cones.
