DIY help please with left side vibration

I have a 2001 registered mini one which has a vibration from the front left side of the
car which can be felt through the passenger footwell and the drivers clutch rest pedal. With the passenger window down u can also hear a fast ticking noise.

My grandad is a retired mechanic and has jacked the car up with the left front wheel in
air and car running in gear and says the driveshaft bearing has gone but when we took the car to the dealer the technician says he couldn't feel a vibration and that the bearing sounds cos the driveshaft is at an angle.

Any ideas, thanx
