CVT Noise (Pressure Release Noise?)

Hi~ All

I have been to my dearship today to check an annoying noise problem of my 05 CVT.

The exhaust type noise (rotational, loud roar or whine) is coming from engine (driver sider's) whenever accelerating. It sounds like something loose in the exaust...However, I can not hear this noise when I put a gear on P or N and rev. up to 3,000-4,000 rpm. (I always try to drive my MINI under 2500rpm though...) I even didn't hear this noise during a first week (it is now fourth week with my MINI).

However, my service advisor told me it is normal with saying that it is a kind of pressure release noise coming from CVT because CVT makes a constant pressure and thus it should be released... Do you have any idea about this ?

I get a noise, which i was told is normal...on slow downs, like a chain re-adjusting. Maybe thats what you are hearing.

I don't know guys, but it doesn't sound normal to me. I can't say I've ever heard anything like either one of you describes.
