I have a new S convertible with leather seats & sports package. I cannot get the seat to feel comfortable. I have reduced the lumbar support as low as it'll go, and yet the seat presses against my lower back and supports none of my upper back. Any ideas for a fix?

Sounds a bit like you just need to make the seat back a bit more vertical, so that the upper part comes against your back. Since the seat back pivots at the bottom, tilting it up like this will move the upper part a lot while doing little to the lower section (lumbar area), and should improve our comfort. I've done similar adjustments (though in the opposite direction, as I like lots of lumbar action...)

I have the same problem with my lapis blue leather seats. I've adjusted and adjusted but can't find a good position. I think that ergonomically, they are just bad seats. The fact that the seats are not that soft and supple doesn't help either. But I guess thats just how the seats are designed, to be sporty/firm not necessarily to be comfortable.

I have the same problem with my seats (sports package, leather, lumbar). I've tried all sorts of ways to fix it, and have had zero luck. The advice listed above, is what I would have suggested, too. I love the car....I'm used to the seats, but they are still uncomfortable.

Seats that are too soft contribute to driver fatigue on longer trips. Softer seats also provide less support, which is not good for a sports car that's being thrashed around corners and needs to support the driver in an upright position. The MCS sports seats are somewhat firm, but I don't think they're any harder than a comparable BMW or other sports sedan. Maybe you could fit some aftermarket seats???

I love lumbar support. I don't understand how it can cause problems for your back. lumbar support is supposed to do exactly the opposite of what you say its doing. It takes the weight off the lower spine by letting the upper spine better rest against the seat. Do you have kyphosis? You spine may not be properly curved, this can happen do to osteoporosis causing the collapse of some of the bones in the spine, also arthritis can cause this. I see you are an older individual so this may be pointing to a bigger problem with your spine. Your lower spine may have a outward or straight curve to it rather then a inward curve to it. I would suggest strolling by a hospital one day, A nurse can easily tell if this is a problem, there is no need for a doctor unless the nurse is unsure.
