Ireland Brake pad sensor light

Hi

My Brake pad sensor light came on tonight and was wondering if it is normal for it to come on after 11000 miles????
& does TLC cover brake pad wear??

Thanks
Fabio

Hah! The real question is 'should my brake light be on after MTM2005?',

Owen.

Sounds about the normal milage

Unfortunally your TLC wont cover them, it'l cost you around £90 to get 1 set sorted in the dealer OR take a go at doing it yourself and put some decent pads in, it aint to hard if your handy with a tool box . (My fronts went first, probably them)

Worth checking the rears too.... I replaced my fronts at 18k, only to find out that its the rears that need replacing. Don't assume that your rears will last significantly longer than your fronts, they are now designed to wear down evenly (the rear pads are thinner than the fronts).

11k seems vey low, perhaps your driving style needs some consideration...?

the black paint is still there, i must try and get rid of it

I swapped my front and rear tyres yesterday again, and i did notice the fornt brake pads where very thin, the rears seem'd okay. Then i went out for a small run and i was pretty heavy on the brakes which must have done the damage .

I'd like to get a decent set of pads and braided hoses but dont really have the cash now???
I might just book it in to my dealers

the service interval will tell you when you need to change your brake fluid
when you turn the key to position 2 the service interval will tell you miles or km to a service press the button in the speedo and a little clock symbol will appear beside this is the amount of days left till you need a brake fluid change if it is a minus number get it sorted asap
drop down some time and ill change your pads and fluid

When you replace the pads do you have to get your dealer to reset the computer so that the tyre pads sensor light is deactivated??

no you can reset the brake fluid clock they same way you reset the service interval
also only buy the pads from a BMW dealer as you will need a BP sensor cable also
and some antisqueal paste
the sensor cable must be replaced as once the switch on the cable is activated it cannot be reset
once you change the pads and replace the cable the light should go out
one other thing have you checked the brake fluid level
maybe your pads are ok and just need a fluid top up or change
check this first before buying any pads
also check the pads for thickness you should be able to see them through the wheel spaces
and let me know
always here to help a MINI in distress

Thanks
i have looked at the thickness of the pads and they dont look too thick
I wanted to get new pads anyway for tracking.I ordered some new rear pads from BMW but got ferodo ds2500 for the front and getting some braided hoses and some dot 5.1 brake fluid. Also i got a BP sensor for the front and the rear from BMW.
It should do the job
