Silver Black possessed mini

The timing couldn't be worse....
for a few months now, my '04 mcs has been locking itself, whenever I get out of the car. At first I thought it was a prograrmming thing.. Thought I'd done something to program it to do this... then one day it wouldn't let me lock it, and when I got inside it, it locked me in!!!!! The little toggle unlock button inside made the 'unlock' sound, like things were unlocking, but the door handle still wouldn't open the door.

SO, I brought it in for service.

They fixed it.

I drove it home. Pulled halfway into my driveway, got out to move the jeep, so I pull all the way in and.... YOU GUESSED IT!!!! The car locked itself. WITH THE KEYS, my PURSE ALL MY STUFF INSIDE!

Of course, the service place is closed.

grrrr....
locksmith has come and gone. GOOD NEWS.. . MINIS Are really hard to break into!

Of course I'm supposed to leave for MOT on Monday.

and here I sit waiting for the locksmith.

when I take the car in tomorrow. Any recommendatiions on what the REAL problem is here?????

I'm a bit nervous taking this baby up north, w/o feeling sure I can lock it! (or not get LOCKED IN!)
bad news, no one around here seems to have the special lock picks needed to 'break into' the car.

waiting for a flat bed to come out and tow back to dealre.
apparently b/c she's parked in reverse (it's a slight hill) w/the emergency brake on, they're gonna have to 'soap up' the ramp so that they don't damage the car??????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm startin' my 2nd martini.
perhpas I should just break a window?

Don't you get three keys in the US, in which case, one of the spares would get you in, if you can get to them?

yup, You sure do get 3 keys.
the plastic one that opens just the door (which would solve all problems) was put in a hideaway box on the car. It's gone. Guess it fell off??????

the other key I gave to my fiance'. Not a clue where that is.... (the key, & well not real sure where the other is too!

anyway, having been flat bedded to service!!!!! I think it's a trial and error fix. Apparently there are 3 computers that control the car. One of them is sending the wrong message to the locks.....

I should be ok as long as I keep the key on me. Once I get back from Maine/NH I'll drop 'Pepper' off and them solve the great mystery.

Let's hope that I don't get locked in, again!!!! ;-)
(at least the weather in NE is supposed to be pretty cool.........

thanks to al for the offers of help and support. As of now, I'm dropping her off tomorrow at my dealer. They believe it is some kind of a computer problem. I'll keep you updated on how things resolve. I'm confident that the dealer will fix the problem, eventually.

MOT was a blast. The car kept all entertained throughout the week... the immediate & repeated locking after I'd unlock her prompted one MOTer to observe that the car "obviously doesn't want to let you in... what did you do to irritate her? Fill her up w/regular gas???? "

Currently thinking of renaming her "Christine".....

thanks again!
