She burned my friend!

Indi has struck again! She must not like my friend. I truned on the passenger seat heater (it's 90 degreesF here in Florida) as a practical joke on a friend during his test ride and about 5 seconds later he jumped and screamed "WOW, that's hot!". I'm laughing "yeah, that's the seat heaters, warm eh?"

"NO, It burned me!"

"What?"

"It burned me!" About this time we smell smoke. "You smell that?"

"yes, what's that?" I say

"Must be the seat heater." And by now he's sitting on the edge of his seat to not touch the offending seat-back.

We pull over and lo-and-behold... there's two holes in the seat-back. Indi has burned right thru the fabric and into my friend! Down girl! AND when we turn it back on to see, we see sparks thru one of the holes. SPARKS!

Anyone else had a prob. with their heated seats? You boys in hot climates that haven't tried them yet might want to check (but not till I get my new parts).

Other than that she's wonderful!

In Florida when the fall and winter comes, so does the sunshine. After the front passes, you're left with beautiful cold weather. I love riding with the windows and sunroof open, but don't want to freeze either. Thus heated seats. Sometimes it's just too nice to keep the windows up, regardless of outside temp.

If I'm not mistaken Bentley had a recall due to their heated seats getting way too hot.

This isn't something that's come up here before that I can recall.

Mine are fine. My wife loves them for her back so even when it is hot out she turns it on for a massage. No burns yet, fingers crossed!

I've made an appointment to get her fixed. The dealer said "don't use it", NO SH**!

They ordered the seat cover and heater stuff and will install when it gets here. He did say the seat covers weren't in any warehouse and they might have to do a production pull. Also, when the parts guy was looking for the pass. seat heater elements he couldn't find it. He called the real BMW parts people and they didn't know either. He did find a "heater install kit" I think it was, and ordered that. He said they may have to rob the kit of the parts we need and send the rest back. That's good to know for when Indi is out of warranty in 2 years (i drive a lot).

Still dreaming of rear-fogs.
