Seat Airbag deployed at low speed!!!???? HELP

How do I stand with the following scenario ?

I literally clipped a kerb lastnight doing around 15 - 20 mph and the passenger side/seat airbag deployed! Apart from filling the cabin with a pungent cloud of smoke once the bag deflated putting the fear of god up me the car then cut out (as expected). I have had the wheels laser tracked and all is fine - apart from a scuff or two) -

why did the airbag deploy when the handbook clearly states that they will not deploy at low speeds and under other "certain" circumstances?

do you think this is a valid warranty claim?

will I be left carless until BMW investigate? or is it a quick process?

is the car safe to drive in the meantime? (waiting for BMW to call me back!)

if BMW dont cover me and I dont go thru my insurance - what will it cost to get my airbag put back and the leather seat re-stitched along with the airbag light resetting?

If it was hard enough to cause the air bag to deploy id expect the suspension to be trashed if it was anything other than a sensor malfunction.

But you mean brushed the kerb right?? not hit it sideways?

there was a kerb stone sticking out - these new traffic flow right of way efforts!!!! mustve caught the corner of the bar stool

been into my dealer

to reskin my leather seat and fit/rest airbag - just under £900!!! they will submit to BMW to see if its viable for a claim - but as there was impact...its doubtful...

it was rude not to get a quote for some hide Works seats up front - fitted = £1530! gulp

any group buys on - cos I'd deffo be in!!!! mmm works

happy and sad at the same time

managed to get a spin in a Works S 210bhp too - very nice although not all that much quicker than an S tbh..... don't flame me here ... stil lwouldnt turn one down - £3500 for the Works kit fitted...

GTT here I come..once my seats are sorted that is!!

most airbags deploy when they sense an impact equivalent to 13-17 mph, depending on manufacturer
