Hot Mini!

not sure if anyone else has experienced this but im starting to get more concerned about it since last week. My mini has always what I would say been on the hot side now im talking temperature in the car with windows up on a normal british weather day so not overly warm.

I dont have air con so its not a fault with that although im seriously going to get it on the next mini.

So anyway back to the problem.........its always really warm now even when the temp dial is on cold and the level of blower is on off it produces warm air? Last week I was driving down the road behind an old sierra and smelt burning but thought it must be the old banger in front as it couldn't be my mini! Well i pulled up outside the house and sierra had gone and still smell the burning smell. Got out the car and got back in about 15 mins later and the car was dead warm but burning smell gone. So I'm sat in the driver seat and put my hand down in the footwell and start feeling around and the (forgive my technical terms) bit in the middle between me and the passenger side was really hot to touch. So the bit were the car blows air through to the footwells.

Any ideas before I book it in to get looked at?? ive just had a faulty boot lock replaced and dont want them thinking im looking for problems.......

The heater matrix, which is the little radiator inside the car to warm the passengers, is always on. The interior temperature is controlled by mixing heated air that has come through the heater matrix with air that has not been heated.

The result is that there can be hot bits in the heater whether you want hot air or not.

On your car, there could well be a fault so that the control is always giving hot air. On the other hand, the ait temperature here in England is such that we have been using the aircon quite a lot even on overcast days.

The heater matrix is the only place that enough heat could come from to make you feel hot. Electrical faults just can't produce that amount of power without other symptoms.

why thank you sir!! That was actually quite funny!! might pop up one night in the week if i can an early dart.....

just to add in its actually cooler outside the car than inside even when its parked in shade so i mean taking into account the heat outside the car is just still far too warm for me....maybe im just being too sensitive or im having hot flushes
