Hi, I have been using an Alpine CDA-9831 head unit for about a year in my Cooper, but the surrounding metal cage (the one you have to slide the head unit into) rattles a lot with motor and road vibration. Is there a way to stop those vibrations ? It's driving me crazy!! ![]() Thanks, -- paco

Mike, Thanks for the tip! Is this a known problem with Alpine's metal cages or a "standard feature" with most head units ? Where do you position the velcro for optimal vibration attenuation ? Thanks! -- paco

Charlied, When I originally installed the head unit the metal cage's fins seemed to vibrate even before sliding the head unit into it. The head unit seemed to be very tight with all the fins/clips of the metal cage, do you think it is an installation problem ? Thanks, -- paco

I know this is an old thread but I have issues with the cages on aftermarket heads too. Ever after pressing out the metals pins as much as possible the cage is still loose. Any one know of brakets you can get that replace the slide in lock mechanism and allow you to use the screw holes like the oem head unit does? This would make it a lot hard to nick the head unit, right now a few good pulls would have it out!
