Least-cost interior upgrade

Here's my candidate for the cheapest possible interior upgrade for a Mini.

Each time I looked at the finger-holes in the interior door-pulls, it looked to me as if they hadn't quite finished the car - as if parts were missing. Doubtless some designer was paid big money for describing this a "design element", but it just didn't look right to me...

Four black nylon hole plugs from the local hardware store solved the problem: 5/8" for the lower holes and 11/16" for the upper ones.

Total cost = US$1.62. If you are into chromed parts, you can also get plated metal hole plugs for about the same price.

Sounds interesting, but a pic would speak at least 40 words

Well, OK, but it adds $.03 to the cost of the upgrade...

That really is an Excellent Mod
Did you have to spray the plugs to get an exact colour match ??

No - didn't bother. Black is close enough to Anthracite for me, particularly since the plugs have a stippled surface.

BTW, 7/16" hole plugs do a nice job of filling the holes in the top of the rear seatback where the rear headrests were inserted...

Hi How much would it cost to have 2 sets of these in chrome, and black, sent to the UK? I have looked for something like these over here, but with no luck so far Please Email me and I will sort out payment

Here's a source for chromed door buttons:
http://www.myminiparts.com/proddetai...rod=DBK&cat=10

If you drop him an email, I'm sure Peter would also offer a choice of the black nylon hole plugs.

Regards...

If anyone wants to buy a batch of the plugs for a club or group, you can find them wholesale at http://www.mcmaster.com/ - search for "sheet metal plugs" and you will find black nylon or plated metal plugs.

The plastic "locking" types are about $5.00 for one hundred plugs and the nickel-plated metal ones about twice that. That gets the cost of four plastic plugs down to about US$.20

My `05 car needs a 5/8" and an 11/16" plug for each door, and four 7/16" plugs to fill the holes in the rear seat where the rear headrests were. I believe cars built prior to 6/04 require three buttons for each door, but I'm not sure which size.

Myminiparts.com offers chrome-plated sets, if you are into chrome.
