Exclamation urgent questions about the ipod adapter! plz help!!!

hi, i have serious doubts about purchasing the adapter from the dealer.
i dont want my warranty to be cancelled because of installing some aftermarket thing, but the main issue is that my MCS doesnt have the multi-function steering wheel. my dealer told me that w/o it, every function of the ipod (except volume), has to be controlled through the ipod, because the steering wheel is the only thing that can change through songs.
my questions are:
is the dealer correct saying that the only way to change songs is with the multi-function steering wheel?
if so, how can i change through songs? i heard your ipod screen looks like if it were syncing with the computer, so the buttons dont respond...
thx a lot

How wide is the hall-way, Napster?

I got my iPod adaptor from Mikeythemini (and he installed it). I have a Sony HU (there are other adaptors for all makes) and ALL the iPod controls are from the Sony HU, you can place the iPod where you want .
Your Warranty wont be cancelled, I have this and other mods (inc. folding wing mirrors) and they DO NOT affect your warranty. The dealer will only have an issue if they can prove that the aftermarket deviced caused a problem, and even then they just wont fix that issue, the rest of the car will still be under warranty

Speak to Mickey about your requirements (only have a credit card handy, as you want to buy more stuff from him )

Get the Dension IceLink+ - you can change it to either be controlled from the HU or the iPod. It is far more flexible than the Dealer option.

I've got the official lead, and while you can't do a lot with it you CAN change songs!

http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98525 should help a little

installing your own head unit or ipod adapter wont void your warranty, it will only void the warranty on the parts you fit that those it affects.

if you buy the mini ipod connector, the expensive version, then you can change songs using a boost CD player (maybe others)...you dont necessarily need the MFSW. Your ipod will lose ipod control, but the head unit will now control it, you use that to change track etc. On the mini ipod connector you have to build special playlists and your limited to only 5 of them...the read out of info on the head unit is also limited.

For these reasons, i found a complete head unit and adaptor from alpine for the same price as the mini adapter alone that has complete ipod control, rather than the limited control of the mini one and changed the lot...sounds better than the boost as well.

Mikethemini is the man to speak to about this, he really knows his stuff
