United-Kingdom After market accent lighting LEDs

With regards to the accent lighting that is now standard on the 06 model years, I am looking to add some to my MCS. I know that you can get a set of 4 from https://www.newministuff.com but quite frankely £14 is a bit excessive for a few LED's.

However looking at Maplin.co.uk it seems that you cannot get orange 12volt LEDs. Do they exist and has anyone purchased some from Maplin or similar?

Also fitting them, as they would be 12v i think that you can just take a feed from the back of the radio which would come on when the lights are on?

If you want to make your own, you can buy normal LEDs and add series current limiting resistors. Use heat shrink tubing to insulate everything. Of course be sure not to connect them in reverse to the 12V supply as that will probably destroy the LED.

BTW, I did find 12V orange LEDs manufactured but I have no idea where you might buy them:

Practically, while the NewMINIstuff price is high compared with buying four run-of-the-mill LEDs, what you are buying is the "finished product" with wires ready to be connected, and the knowledge of NewMINIstuff & Mikey about the product and its usage, etc.

There are many things in the world that can be made by someone with enough skill for less money than the purchase price. But many folks find it easier just to buy the ready made solution.
