DIY Questions on OEM equipment...

Hi,

First time poster on the board, I've just traded in my MG TF for a little more practicality to the tune of a MINI Cooper S which I'm picking up on Monday. It's all a little exciting and I'm already trying to plan what I can do with the sound system in my MINI.

The MINI I'm buying is a 2003 model which I believe has the WAVE cassette head unit and a factory fitted CD Changer in the boot. Reading through the posts here, I think I'm going to do either of the following, depending if it's possible:

1) I'm probably going to want rid of the cassette player (who uses then nowadays anyway), so I was thinking of buying a BOOST unit off Ebay and swapping them. Am I right in thinking that it should be a straight swap compatible with the CD changer as long as I use a new harness adaptor from a site such as newMINIstuff.com?

2) I had a Sony headunit in my TF which I am taking out before I drop the car off on Monday. If I decide to use this head unit instead of buying a BOOST head unit, will I be able to get an adaptor from anywhere to make the MINI cd changer usable with it?

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Looks like I'll go the BOOST radio route then, that way at least I won't deviate from the aesthetics of the interior.

If I go for a newer BOOST with MP3 capability, do you know if this will still be compatible with the original changer?
