Retro fitting OBC on 52 plate

After a month or so of looking for what seems an elusive dark silver MCS i've found one at a canny price. Quite decent spec as well but only thing its missing is OBC, which i believe was an option on the 52 plate cars.

I havnt had a search yet on whether other people have put up a thread on this but im going to dig around but i was going to ask can an OBC be retro fitted?

I understand it will be a new stalk and a connection of the electrics but wondering how difficult it would be, does any one fit them and how much?

I've never had an OBC on previous cars but always "wanted" one on future cars but now thinking is it worth waiting for an MCS with one?

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Stu

It can be retrofitted - accessory price is quoted as £99.95, but I think that's plus dealer fitting.

If you want to cut the cost a bit, the indicator stalks with the switch on come up on eBay fairly regularly, the harness is apparently available from the dealers separately and it's not a huge job to fit it yourself. All that would be required from the dealership is a quick play with the computer to enable it for you.

I'm about to go down the DIY route on my '03 Cooper, trying to gather all the parts and info first

Cheers for the reply Martin.

I did some searching on here yesterday and found a couple of really good threads on retrofitting an OBC, along with an official and unofficial PDF of how to do it (see FAQ section if you need them).

I got a quote from the dealer yesterday and its £99 for the parts, and £200 labour (2hrs work apparently!)... saw a stalk on ebay for £15 yesterday, so it would be just a case of getting the wiring harness and spending the time fitting it.

Let me know how you get on!

Hi Guys, i am new to mini's but not BMW and have always had a OBC. Hence my interest in retro fitting it to my 52 plate MCS works.

One question, when you retrofit it you will have two alarm led's (one on each stalk) do they both flash ? or is there something you need to do ?
