Im trying to replace my old 6x9 with new JBL 6x9 in the back of my mini. just wondering how u take the rear panels out and what scres u need to undo etc so that i dont just yank the whole thing off in pieces like i did with my old ford fiesta.

its quite an involved job have done it twice once on each of our cars to install cd changer loom, you have to romove all the boot trim and the rear seats then the seat belts which are held in place by big torx screws T50 i think! all the rubber round the doors needs to come off and some round the boot, then just take out any screws you can see - only about 3 if remeber correctly most of it is held in place with plastic clips which if careful can be re-used. but it is best to remove trim from inside sills of doors which is not easy with seats in place, bet you will bust the clips doing this!! and getting the clip back in place next to dashboard is a ***!! good liuck best to do job on a day when dealers are open to buy new trim clips!!!

Rear panels

I performed this task two weeks ago to install new 6x9's. I wish I would have taken pictures but I was going at it alone. I did not have to remove my seatbelts but in any case let me advise you to purchase some additional clips becaue they do break. The panels are flexible but don't over do it. Some advice on the 6x9's, I ran my own wires, don't try using the factory wires they are ran through a factory amp depending on what head unit came with your Mini.

Be very patient with yourself and your car. It may take a few minutes or hours but be patient. Hopefully the input you receive from that other individual guides you well. The upgrade is well worth it.

Personally I wouldnt bother with 6x9s. Your better off getting decent front components running off an amp which will fill the car easily with quality sound..
