Fitting Chrome Interior...

Bought the chrome bits from newministuff.com last month and am worried about screwing things up in my new motor by fixing it and breaking it.

Has anyone got any advice on how to fit these... does it screw on/off, clip on/off need glue or dismantling?

Or would the dealer fit it for me, I know they'd charge...

Cheers

Jay

I'm attempting to dechrome (go to anthracite).

So far, I've replaced the following:
Air vents: easy twist (CW or CCW?)
Cup holder (dual ring): gently pry up one edge
Hazard/dash light: gently squeeze sides and pull out
Gear surround: gently pry up one edge, plate (if auto) and shifter boot comes with it, turn over and find tabs (3 I think)

I've NOT replace the following yet:
Speedo: replacement ordered, need direction
Rev counter (Tach): replacement ordered (I was told it's available in silver only, may try to paint it or may leave it as is cause theres a lot of silver near by), I've read and seen photos, remove tach, cut paper label at seam, remove back, trim tabs are exposed
Handbrake handle: I think the handle's leatherette boot and plastic trim on the tunnel has to come out, there's a screw under the rubber mat in the recess just below the button, haven't had time to venture further, may leave to the dealer when other work is done

Hope this helps

I am not taking the frigging dash off of a £16,000 motor!!! It's going to the dealers, it's probably a piece o'cake, but I have a habit of ballsing things up!

Its really not that hard mate... think of us over here in Australia, we pay a *lot* more for our Mini's over here!

In all honesty, I did it in bugger all time - but I know my way around the dash. If you didn't, it'd still take you around 1-1.5 hours!

Do all of it APART from the speedo ring at least.

It is possible in many cases to just pry the speedo ring off (so I hear on here), but you just have to make sure you're careful not to damage the areas around it with whatever lever you decide to use.

Paul,

Thanks for that - I have actually just booked the car in to have soley the speedo ring put on. I am taking the chrome speedo down to them tonight, and it'll be put on the car tomorrow.

I actually pick the car up tomrorow night now! They've charged me labour of £120, absolute day-light robbery, but whoelse could I get to do it... and at the end of the day, they're the experts.

I should be able to fit the others sans problemes...

Jay

£120! You might want to try and pry it off with your finger nails if you can, SOME people have found it easy enough to actually just do by hand. If you can do that it's got to be worth a few minutes of your time to save £120. The new one will just press on.
