No glove box...

So, I feel like a weirdo asking this but anyway...

My 2003 2nd hand MC doesn't have a glove box (compartment for you other countries)... and also doesn't have a panel under the steering wheel - it just has a shelf that goes across (under the steering wheel also, which is kinda handy!)...

So what I'm wondering is... is this normal? I've never seen "no glovebox" as an option on any brochures etc..

It is an option in some countries. I think I remember seeing someone (from the USA, where this option isn't offered) who wanted to swap a glovebox for a shelf on this forum.

Yeah you used to get two parcel trays on both sides of the car. Then they offered an optional glove box and then the glove box started to come as standard and they deleted the parcel tray under the steering wheel. It can all be retrofitted though with instructions in FAQ and DIY.

in Oz it was a optional feature until late 03-early 04

My 02 MC has no glovebox - Love the shelf. Who needs a glove box anyway - Do you wear gloves??

Where do you put all your CD's? I use to have the shelf on both sides but retrofitted the glovebox so I can hide all my music and bits and bobs out of sight.

The harder question now is how the hell do I get the shelf out to get to the stereo to get that AUX cable in.. eek.

The stereo comes out. No need to remove the shelf.
