SAT NAV Firmware update

I tried this last year on my 02 cooper S with the CD SAT NAV, it completely stuffed it up (black screen permanently). I ended up taking back to the dealer and they sorted it for me under warrenty phew! Only problem was they put the old version on again. I have read on here that the update produces smoother graphics and better performance and was wondering if I should be brave (or stupid) and try it again....I wouldn't bother, but it has been playing up lately and sending me on some bizzare routes, even though I am using the 2005 disk.
Does anyone know where I can get the latest update, and are there any tips for intalling correctly?

Lots of posts on this as well. The latest firmware is V26. You may want to ckeck and see what model NAV you have. It sounds like you may have a MKIII which means that you may not be able to use the latest update.

Thanks for your reply Daflake - it is the CD sat nav system, I have just checked and I am running the sortware version 3-1/63. Is this the v25 update? Doaes anyone no if the v26 update will work on this system?

I think I must have a MK3 system, and it looks like v3-1/63 is tha latest firmware for this model.

I have downloaded the BMW service navigation PDF for v26 Firmware and it doesn't say "do not install on a MK3 system" but i think there are no more new updates for the mk3 system - can anyone confim?

Check some of the threads out on that forum. There were a lot of people trying to update the MKIII. Some were successful and some were not.

I have just updated to v.26 today after following the links above, and I must say that the improvement is well worth it. The nav screen is now nice and smooth looking with the map scrolling nicely around the vehicle target......superb!!

The cd version has been frozen at 3-63 for a long time. No new updates have been produced for it. The smoother graphics and greater detail etc is for the dvd system only.

Oldskoolflash it was me that produced the disk for you - the disk was fine, just sometimes it craps out, if you had been patient and retried it it would have eventually worked.

Yep, that is what I thought but as I have a MKIV, I haven't researched the MKIII.
